Rocket Family: The school year is off and running with our students in the school and those on the Rocket Remote Learning. We would like to take this time to mention a few housekeeping items. First, the school email system has been changed from office 365 to Google. The address is still the same, first.last@fpls.us . Students can log into GMAIL using the same username and password that they used for Office 365. As of September 4, 2020, students will no longer be able to access Office 365. If students wish to save any documents from their OneDrive, they will need to save them to an external drive and then save them to their Google Drive. Students on the Rocket Remote Learning, will need to log into the remote learning platform each day for at least 1 hour, for attendance purposes. Student attendance and progress will be monitored by a staff member at Fayetteville Schools. If any students are having laptop issues, please remember to open a help desk ticket through the school website. Let have a great year - And As Always … GO ROCKETS. James E. Mrs. McFarland
Hello there! This is Mrs. McFarland, Computer Keyboarding/Technology teacher for grades K-5. I just happened upon a great social studies website called MISSION US. https://www.mission-us.org/ It's an interactive way to learn US history. It looks like it would be appropriate for Grades 4 and up. You will have to choose a username and password to log in. Listed are the historical missions: --“For Crown or Colony?” puts players in the shoes of a printer’s apprentice in 1770 Boston, where they encounter Patriots, Loyalists, and the Boston Massacre. --In “Flight to Freedom,” players take on the role of an enslaved 14-year-old girl who escapes to Ohio and discovers life in the “free” North is dangerous and difficult. --In “A Cheyenne Odyssey,” players become Little Fox, a Northern Cheyenne boy whose life is changed by Westward Expansion. --“City of Immigrants” casts players as a Russian Jewish teen who immigrates to New York City in 1907 and becomes part of a growing labor movement. --In “Up from the Dust,” players navigate the challenges of the Great Depression and Dust Bowl as teenage twins struggling to keep their family wheat farm afloat.

FPLS Parents: Packet pick up will start tomorrow in the middle school foyer. Doors will be open Monday-Friday from 6:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Packets can be dropped off during those times as well. Teachers have been instructed to limit assigned work to no more than one hour per day of "seat work" in all subjects combined. That time frame is the expectation per day. We want to account for mental health as well as physical. Please make every effort to limit the amount of stress in regard to academics for parents and children alike. When dropping off packets please use the envelopes provided on top of the green box in which to place paper. Please write your child's name, grade, and teacher on a line on the envelope and place in the green box. If there is work for multiple teachers please put each teacher's name on the line. When picking up/dropping off please enter the foyer one person at a time and use prescribed social distancing guidelines. If you have any questions regarding any issue please contact your child's teacher or Mr. Fiscus, elementary principal at aric.fiscus@fpls.us.

Since the school closure has been extended through May 1 we will be unable to hold the Fayetteville High School Prom on April 25 as originally planned. Our hope is to reschedule and have Prom at a later date but this decision and details must wait until we know about school reopening. As far as graduation is concerned we will at some point have a graduation exercise for seniors. Once again the time and date will depend on when we can reopen school. Stay tuned for updates on both.

Rocket Family, as we end the first three weeks of on-line learning, we want to make sure that all students have been in contact with their teachers. This is imperative for students to maintain an open line of communication with their teachers, either through email, Teams chat, or phone calls to the school. If you call the Middle School office and leave a message for a teacher, I will make sure the message is relayed to the teacher. An open line of communication will keep the confusion and anxiety of our students at a minimum. Just a reminder that all work for students should be listed on the teacher’s webpage. If you are having issues finding the teachers page, please click on the following link to the Fayetteville staff page- https://www.fpls.us/o/fp/staff. Staff are listed alphabetical and the teacher’s webpage is located under the teacher’s email address. Please have your student check in with his/her teacher’s on a regular basis. Any student who is working on paper packets, those need to be returned to the office and new packets for the weeks of April 13th, 20th & 27th are now available in the office. Please schedule a time to come to the middle school office to pick up the new work. Please encourage your student to keep up with the work. When we return to on-line learning on April 13th, after next week’s break, there will be a drop box placed in front of the Middle School doors, for students to turn in completed work. The work will then be scanned and emailed to the teachers. This will allow students to drop off work anytime, and not have to schedule a time to drop off work.

Parent/Guardian, Tomorrow, March 31st, we will continue with our Meal Pick-Up and Delivery for 5 days worth of meals. However, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19, we will have only one pick-up location, that will be at the back of the Elementary Cafeteria. Parents will need to pull into the driveway between the HS and Elementary Buildings. You will need to tell us how many students, give your last name, you will need to get out of the vehicle and pick up the order at the table. Our staff will not be able to open vehicle doors. This will allow for social distancing. If you are someone who has not taken advantage of the meal program and would like to pick up, you will need to call Mrs. Phillips at 513-875-5096. We are going to continue to deliver as in the past with ones who we have confirmed but cannot take on anymore deliveries at this time. Pick-up time will be 9:30-11am. Deliveries will be from 9-11am. Also, due to next week being the scheduled Spring Break, we are unable to offer meals. If you have further questions or want to cancel your delivery, please call 513-875-4500. Thank you!

Put on your Reds gear, toss a baseball in the backyard, eat some Cracker Jacks, think about the visit from Rosie and Gapper to our elementary school, or even practice the song you were supposed to play in the parade today! Use today as a reminder that we will be back to our normal world soon! STAY HOME, STAY WELL, and post a picture of you and your family celebrating Reds Opening Day! Parents of 6th grade students, Many have been struggling with typing on TEAMS this week. Here is some information that might help: For students and teachers working with Office documents in Microsoft Teams, we are beginning to roll out a temporary change where there will be an additional step in order to edit a document. This is a change from current behavior that allows users to go straight to edit mode when clicking on a document in the "Files" tab of a channel, a conversation, or from inside an assignment. In all cases, upon clicking on the document, users will first see the document in view mode - they will be able to see the document content, but not make changes. In order to edit the document, users need to click on the options in the top right of the white bar above the document content and select "Open in Browser" or (for users with Office for Windows installed on their device) "Open in Desktop App". This will open the document in Office in a separate window from Teams and allow the user to make changes. . I hope this helps, Mrs.Cathy Dye

Fayetteville Challenge students, grades 5 through 8, participated in the 2019-2020 National Geographic GeoChallenge. The project was called Tackling Plastic! Thirty thousand students across the United States participated. The students had to do various research projects on plastic in the waterways and create a model to prevent plastic from getting from the waterways to the oceans. They, also, had to create a detailed map from the start of their chosen waterway to where it dumps in the ocean. They completed a 4-minute video detailing and displaying their map on their chosen waterway. These completed projects were sent to National Geographic for judging in January, 2020. All of Fayetteville Perry’s challenge students did very well and received a certificate and a patch. The fifth grade class was chosen to advance to regional judging in March. Which includes Ella Bryan, Lydia Jordan, Melody Roark, and Wyatt Wolfer. Congratulations to all the Fayetteville Challenge students that participated. Best of luck to the fifth graders in the next round of competition!

Adventure Academy is a great way to continue learning in science, math, and language arts... and great FUN!!! It usually costs a monthly fee, but is now available for FREE!! Ruby and I have been playing this week. To play, you will need to go to adventureacademy.com/redeem and enter the code: SCHOOL6225 . Then download the game to your computer or device. (Ruby's character is named LittlePuffin8923R, and mine is Holly6004Z, if you'd like to friend us.) You should also go to ReadingIQ.com/redeem and enter the same code (SCHOOL6225) to get an online library for free!! Your parent will need to answer some questions, and then you will take a test, very similar to our STAR tests, to get your reading level. Then you can access THOUSANDS of books for FREE (like MyOn or Epic we used at school)!! Keep up your studies while we're off! Parent/Guardian, As many have heard, the Ohio Governor has mandated several things due to the Corona Virus. I want to make sure we are clear on the direction Fayetteville-Perry Schools must follow. Tomorrow, March 13th is an all-staff/professional development day. Students will not be in session. On Monday, March 16th, students will be in session at regular time. There was a planned 1-hr. Late start but due to the circumstances, we are now on regular schedule time. Monday, will be a day where teachers will provide information, resources, & tools needed for the break. After Monday, mandated by the Ohio Governor, schools will be out of school for a duration of 3-weeks. The District will update the community when there are changes. At some point tomorrow, Superintendent Tim Carlier, will address how we are handling the situation. Thank you for your time and we will do our best to accommodate for our students, families, and community. And as always..... GO ROCKETS!
